Ana Briones

Ana graduated in Pharmacy from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain). She performed her PhD studies at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain) and completed her predoctoral and postdoctoral training at University of Glasgow (UK), Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (Spain) and Universities of Montreal and Ottawa (Canada). Currently she is an Associate Professor in the Pharmacology Department, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Her research is focussed on elucidating the role of different inflammatory mediators including lipid mediators and oxidative stress in vascular remodeling, endothelial dysfunction and vascular stiffness associated with different cardiovascular pathologies including hypertension, obesity, aortic aneurysms and ageing. More recently, she is working on the potential resolution of inflammation as a novel therapeutic strategy in cardiovascular disease. Dr Briones is member of national and international cardiovascular networks and participates in anumber of different evaluation committees. She is member of the Editorial Board of several peer-review journals, and she was on the Executive Committee of the European Council for Cardiovascular Research. Dr. Brione's research has been funded by national and international grants and she has trained a number of PhD and postdoctoral researchers.
